coworkers giving me hard time about me leaving my dogs outside at night

You should let the dogs into the house. It's one thing to have them sleep outside for a night or two, but every night? That is cruel.

I think it's a matter of what they are used to. Know someone who had an outside dog. Years later, he decided to start letting the dog in sometimes during the day. If the dog was in the house at the usual time when everyone went to bed or had been inside for a long stretch, it would sit by the door and wait to be let out.

Dogs can be happier outside. It's all about the weather. People who judge others for putting dogs outside are kinda close minded city folks. The majority of farm dogs and rural dogs live outside.

I agree. I grew up in a rural area where all dogs lived outside. The number of people on this thread who think that is cruel is totally bizarre.

Op, what you are doing is fine unless you live near the artic or something. These people are weird. It is fine for dogs to stay outside. They lived outside for thousands of years.

GET RID OF YOUR DOGS. Give them to a nice dog-loving family who will take care of them properly. Your dogs do not prefer living outside. You are just wrong about that. They are not wild animals. Keep them inside or find a family who is willing to vacuum the house and wash the dogs regularly so they don't smell. You have guard dogs, but that's it, OP. But they aren't your pets, and don't kid yourself any longer about that.

We bred the wildness out of dogs to the point where they depend on us for almost everything including shelter and companionship. If the dog is outside all the time chances are it is not getting that to the degree that it should. I have neighbors who have outside dogs and one of them didn't make it through the cold winter. Dogs are outside animals. They are happier outside. It is more natural for them to be outside than it is to be cooped up inside all day long in a small area for hours on end.

Not my medium size hound dog - he sleeps all day on our bed. Might sit up to look outside the window. He gets his 3 mile walk everyday and spends time outside, but he LOVES being inside. Sits at the backdoor, and knocks to come in. Why would knock to come in if he didn't want to? All you people who keep dogs outside are just lazy assholes who have no business having dogs!!!!!!! To lazy to walk them and care for them - yes, dogs love being outside - WHEN THE WEATHER IS NICE.

How does he do this? He doesn't scratch to come in?

Brussels Griffon dogs feet are literally not able to stand being on hard ground for long periods of time. Being on the ground will kill them. OP est une monstre.

lol. this is OP. trust me, my dogs are not wussy dogs like whatever a Griffon is. They are big hearty, happy, healthy dogs that are well adjusted and well trained. My guess is 95% of the domesticated dogs on this planet live outside and are happier than the 4% (mostly American) dogs that live in condos or apartments. How ridiculous. Birds fly, dogs run. They need lots and lots of room to run.
