What are "sock puppets and trolls"? Probably here somewhere but I don't feel like reading the entire thread. Thanks. |

A "sock puppet" is somebody who post her opinion, and then posts again (and maybe again) to say she agrees with the previous post - which was her own opinion. She's making it look like others think she's reasonable, even if she's nuts (and I don't just mean the sock puppeting). It can be hard to identify "sock puppets" on an anonymous forum, but sometimes it's obvious from similar typing or grammatical errors, or speech tics. A "troll" is somebody who just likes to push buttons and get everybody upset. The best strategy is to step around them, like a pile of dog doo, but sometimes I can't resist telling them they are idiots. |
