Because, dumbass, it's fine to believe that if you want to. The problem is these are LAWMAKERS making LAWS and deciding what tragic violent attacks resulting in unwanted pregnancies are BLESSINGS, or not.

And more to the point if the GOP doesn't want to feed into this fantasy that they are somehow trying to implement polcies that are not woman friendly, maybe they should stop talking about rape and everything else gynecological.

I just talked to my sister, who works in a largely female office. The women are horrified by the Akin thing. It doesn't seem to be a matter of politics, either.

I realize it's not a scientific sample, but her observation is that the conservative women in her office are having a tough time with it too. After all no matter where you are on the abortion issue, as a woman how do you pull the lever for a guy who is that backwards on rape?

the issue isnt no abortion for rape. i think many republicans have been clear on that. if people are just discovering this concept, they must be hiding under a rock.

the real issue to me is the "legitimate" rape wording and more importantly the bullshit idea that a woman's body shuts down when it knows its being raped/attacked.

i get that if you are pro-life you think a baby should never be aborted under any circumstance. i dont agree but i get that mindset. what i dont get is someone like akin believing they know how a womans reproductive system works and actually working off this premise.

No, he didn't "merely" say that. He said that in cases of "legitimate" rape, a woman's body will for the most part not be impregnated.

You don't get to pick and choose his words for him.

Sexism is more of a threat to me than Obamacare. Can you explain how Obamacare is going to negatively impact me? I already buy insurance and I don't have much sympathy for freeloaders who could afford insurance and then get treated for free.

After PP is defunded, Roe v. Wade is overturned, and birth control is nearly impossible to access, who will pay to feed, educate, and care for all of the unwanted and unplanned for babies?
