OP here.
PP, there were two or three nurses walking in/out to do things. I don't know their names. BUT Dr. Al Khouatley came in after 30 min and upon realizing that the IV was still not in (because remember my veins are very thin and they could not get it in the first one or two times and were having difficulty) she exclaimed, "WHY isn't she ready YET??" This made the nurses move more quickly and the next nurse just drove that 18 gauge needle through my vein with no concern that I was now screaming and crying in agony. Go to the GI specialist, I was not coddled at my fertility clinic nor did I bully them into giving me the numbing injection. They did it routinely for all egg retrievals and I assume its for the comfort of the patient. That's high quality care, not bullying. Your idea of patient care seems a bit off and I'm aghast that you are a GI specialist. Please stick to prescribing zantac and refrain from offering your medical opinion about other medical fields. I honestly think that numbing injections should be routinely provided similar to the way my fertility clinic does. My fertility clinic is considered the best in the world with the highest success rates (no, it's NOT shady grove). The founder of the fert clinic I went to is renowned. These are his policies. Why is it bad to go the extra mile for patient comfort? |
NP here. Patient comfort is not the priority. Patient SAFETY is. Any intervention can cause adverse reactions, including using lidocaine before starting IV's. Why increase the risk for something bad to happen when an IV can be started in such a short amount of time? Even if you are a hard stick, the worst that will happen is that you'll be poked a few times and perhaps get a huge bruise that will go away in a few days. Better than developing a case of lidocaine toxicity (rare, but possible). OP, if the worst part of your experience was an uncomfortable IV stick, consider yourself lucky. |
Thank you, PP. Really OP you ARE a drama queen. Are you now complaining that you did not get a numbing injection, HA HA HA HA HA. |
Oh, the assholes are back! OP, I would just let this thread die. There are people you'll never convince, and some people seem to take pleasure in spewing their venom around anonymously. I have no idea how urgent your situation was, but even if they had no time to give you a numbing injection, they have failed miserably in communicating with you about what they were doing and why, and that is the real problem with what you went through. And that is good to know for other people considering this practice. |
| I am surprised OP didn't demand a perennial massage |
LOL. Yes, she wants a massage every year from her doctor. |
Right after she gets her vagina waxed! |

I think this horse has been beat to death (without the benefit of anesthetic of course), so I'm going to lock the thread.
