So do you REALLY need to carpool? Maybe it's a little annoying, but do I really need to buy a car I don't want (huge SUV; certainly not a minivan) just to tote around an extra kid here or there? Will we be shunned by other families at school? Our kids won't have a social life?
We have an MDX for 2 kids + 1 dog and generally love it. Hoping to do something smaller next time (wagon?). |
| I find we don't carpool that much (which is why the Mazda 5 works well for us). Our schedule is quite tight with 2 active kids and 2 working parents. Though I know it would be helpful at times, carpool involves coordination and sometimes does not work timewise because I am doing other things on the same trip or would not be home when someone is dropping off child A because I am picking up child B. |
Infiniti jx (safe) , Mercedes GL (super safe and huge 3rd row) , Audi q7 (safe), BMW X5 (safe and a small 3rd row) , Cadillac Escalade (not as safe but a status symbol and huge), Ford Explorer (safe inflatable seatbelts) , Lexus LX (safe) , Land Rover LR4 (safe but unreliable). Personally you should I think the Mercedes gl is probably the best all of these cars are great!!!!

Yup. We just got one and love it. |

The GL is a major gas guzzler: 12-13 MPG city. Unconscionable. |
| Mercedes GL diesel. We get 28 highway and can prove it via cars computer. Best vehicle ever. With mb tex seats it is impervious to children! |
| Just got an MDX and really like it. It was down to XC90 and the MDX and the Volvo just didn't have the same pickup/pep. Or at least the one I drove didn't. I was really, really Volvo-inclined, but it felt pretty sluggish. |
| LOVE my Suburban 3 rows of seats, seats 7 adults very comfortably plus tons of storage. |
PP, is your Suburban black? Are you blonde? sorry couldn't help it!

| The Mazda CX-9 is very peppy, and is less bulky than some of the other three row vehicles. I liked the Buick Enclave, but it seemed bigger to drive, and was at least $10k more. Everyone I know with the CX-9 is very happy with it. |
