Best three row vehicle that is not a minivan

Anonymous
We have two kids and would like a vehicle with a third row. We have looked at everything from the highlander to the land rover. Anyone have a recommendation, or care to lament the purchase of such a particular vehicle?

Love love love our Acura MDX.

Did you not like the Highlander? We're pretty happy with ours.

It sounds like you don't need a third row all the time, so it's good for the occasional extra passengers. If you need a third row more regularly, I'd say go with the mini van. Friends of ours just got one and they love it.

Love my chevy traverse with captains chairs. The buick enclave has the same configuration and is much nicer, but we couldn't afford it.

like our mazda 5. would have gotten the highlander if we had wanted a bigger car.

Well, I can NOT recommend one: Chrysler Pacifica.

Love my Honda Pilot. The only thing is I wish it had is captain seats in the second but it hasn't been a huge issue.

I would love to trade in my MDX for a convertible BMW, but as long as I need three rows it'll be the MDX.

You didn't say why you don't want a minivan, but I'd test drive one anyway (unless you already have). A lot of people have inexeplicable bias against minivans without ever having driven one, kind of like a child that refuses to eat something because without tasting it first. Minivans are surpisingly convenient. Plus, most of the alternatives are really fuel inefficient, ugly (i.e. they are SUVs, ugh) or pricier.

Volvo XC 90: great for carpooling, road trips and hauling stuff. Plus, the dog loves it!
