If abortions were SOLELY used as a form of birth control, I would support this bill. Of course lauses would HAVE to be added in for the following cases:
1. Rape 2. Incompatibile with life 3. Danger to mother's life I am pro-choice, but personally wouldn't make the decision to abort (unless my life was in danger or my child would not survive the birth). The bottom line is any decision regarding my body should be my choice. A bill funding better education for young women would have better odds at decreasing the abortion rates than this bill. We need to teach girls about protecting their bodies, not how to deal with it after the fact. |
the yahoos who support things like personhood and invasive transvaginal ultrasounds and misinformation campaigns are also the ones who howl bloody murder about giving teens the information they need to make smart choices about their sexuality. This isn't about reducing abortions--study after study has shown restricting or outlawing abortions makes no appreciable difference in the overall abortion rate; it just drives abortions underground making it far more dangerous for women--it is absolutely about controlling women's sexuality. Women who control their sexuality are empowered women and empowered women are terrifying to the likes of Rick Santorum, Bob McDonnell, and the rest of the "women should be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen!" brigade. |

I am waiting for the Catholic Church to say that they refuse to cover Viagra in their insurance policies unless the man provides a marriage certificate and medical proof that this wife is fertile. |
