Thanks for pointing that out - I thought it was a weird autocorrect. Definitely a homophobe!

Just want to throw this out there - if you don't want to drive 4 hours or 6 hours you could take a 2 hour flight to Florida and go to a really nice beach, with warm water, and lots of other stuff to do besides.... Both the Gulf and Atlantic coasts have beautiful beaches, much nicer IMO than anything around DC, as well as other sights and activities.

Just got back from a few days @ VB. Wife hates it, the kids (teens) and I love it - we can skate, roller blade, swim, surf etc .. No poo poo water, and it was fairly warm. VB is not for everybody; it's sleazy on the strip at night with lots of strange characters around. Wouldn't recommend it for the younger kids. If you want more of a family type vacation go a little further south to Sandbridge.

OBX is way fun if you're into water sports, skimboard, surfing, etc... The water can be dangerous for younger kids, know someone who lost their 11yr old son to an under tow a few years ago. It happen in the blink of an eye.....so if you're not a strong swimmer, please becareful

Rohomo, don't like the water unless you're surfing or skimboarding or sponging, it's not a beach I want to swim in. Poo poo water, prefer Lewes or the DE park beaches to it. It's more suited to going by the beach but not for the water, but for the mini board walk, restaurants and entertainment, plus you can always drive over to OC, Dewey etc, so lot of options.

They're all r very different and each has there own appeal.

MB is by far the best for a true family vacation. IMHO.

What is poo poo water?

Very dirty brown water.

Or go to Hilton Head. Love it there and the ocean is much calmer.

If OBX were not 7 hours away I would seriously considering going there again...but why bother when Rehobeth/OC/Bethany/Lewes are all 2.5 hours away and have a ton more stuff for kids? OBX is great for the die-hard beachheads and frisbee, or playing videogames at the house you're renting.

At the MD/DE beaches you can play mini-golf at 100 places, go on rides, browse the boardwalk, ride go-karts, and yeah go to the beach too.
