If your DC is African-Am. or Latino, do you put a lot of thought into how you dress your DC?

NP here. I haven't read all of the posts but just want to say that the topic of this thread males me pretty sad. I'm a Caucasian and I always make sure my DCs are neatly dressed. They don't wear designer clothes, but they don't leave the house in costumes (except on Halloween) or in PJs. They have respect for themselves and their teachers and classmates and we don't judge others by their clothes. I know extremely wealthy people who behave horribly and people with very little money who make sure their children behave well and act kindly. As for minority parents feeling more pressure to dress their children neatly than non-minority parents, I'm so sorry you feel that way. If you think about it, I should be worried about being perceived as White Trash, and that, BTW has absolutely nothing to do with the amount of money I have in the bank. IME, children who speak well (kindly) can wear almost anything.
