Thanks to OP for starting this topic!

*Update*

31, 8 years, 100K in TSP. 14K in IRA (losing money there...Ukrainian/Russian crisis, argh). I've always contributed 10% at work, can only imagine what I'd have if I maxed!

What exactly is maxing out? I currently contribute 5% to get my agency's match.

Putting in the most that you are allowed.

max is $18k this year if you are under 50. $25k if you are 50 and over.

Am one of these. 25+ years of service, have maxed out every year.

Am all equity all the time (some painful dips after October 2007). Haven't looked recently but somewhere in the range of $1.8 to $2 million. Have other equity investments (including a variable annuity), close to a year's salary in cash and a small real estate investment.

No mortgage, no debt. Firm believer in living below one's means. Paid cash for a new car (a midlevel Honda) that is now 12 years old.

I'm 44 and have $585K. Been in the govt for almost 20 years and have maxed or close to it every year. PP, that's amazing- don't think I'll be where you are in 5 years, but hope to break the $1M mark by then!

52 years old, been a fed for 23 years. $875 in my TSP. Did not always put in the max allowed, but am doing the catch up contribution for the third straight year now that I'm old enough.

Oh- fed for 19.5 years.

$623k at age 52. Doing max and catch up.

32 years old, contributed for 9 years, TSP at $120k now. I only maxed out a couple of those years, now I'm just doing 5% for the matching.

57, $700,000 in the TSP, plus more in regular and Roth IRAs. I think I have 25 years of service, but I was out of the government around 7 years. I have always maxed out, and I do a partial over 50 catch up ($3,000 instead of the Max).

59, 29 1/2 years (including a 9 year military time purchase), FERS, $700k tsp, $100k+ pre fed IRA, $60k ROTH, maybe $600k cash, widowed. GS13 10 for years; about to plug the plug because I don't feel I'm valued (IT security since 1994).

Been doing max catch-up since 54.
