Will this lead to black descendants of American slaves who can pay lots of $$ to find out their African heritage to be able to say they are, for example, Nigerian-American, and that will be the new North Face, Nike, Mercedes, Escalade, i-something or college degree amongst the well-to-do?

I am white and live in a black community and work in an a predominately black office. I use the term black around my black friends, and the term african american around my liberal white friends I find the latter to be much more sensitive about the issue than the former.

Doesn't matter to me either way what other people use but
I always say Black. But I'm not a pretentious person...
