Today really should have been the last day. They had field day today for K-2 and had the 6th graders helping with it all day. That’s nice and helpful and all, but it’s hardly an educational school day. They are just running out the clock now.

My kids started in FCPS in 2015 and for several years we did not have the Wednesday before Thanksgiving off. Sometimes it was an early release. Attendance was really bad, which is why they added that one. For me personally, we don't need the day off because our family is local, but I get that it's an issue for most.

I think the date we start is perfect. We just need to get out the first or second week of June. I think the last school day should have been June 12.

It's really not. What do you do all summer? Normal people don't have summer homes, PP. We scramble to find things for our children to do all summer.

I would love a longer summer! There is SO MUCH I want to do with my kids or have them do and 8 weeks isn’t enough time. Consistent and reliable school year is what we need.

I wish we could start after Labor Day and end by Memorial Day. I’m happy with 2-3 days of winter break and getting rid of other holidays to make it happen.
