To be sent out June 5...will there be any actual "votable" parts, or is it just performative to ask for input? Do we expect SY to be shortened in favor of less days off during the SY, or same old, same old? Are ES early releases a thing of the past now, or still part of the plan? So many questions.

The last I heard, they were trying to claim the elementary early releases were necessary because of the teachers contract or something but there was some movement (not sure if it will be supported enough though) to limit early releases to 8 per year. And that would include the 2 hour end of quarter early releases, so elementary would be left with 4 early release days instead of the monthly ones we have now. Which, if they can put them in months we don’t have weather issues or longer breaks (so like, September - November and then April/May), wouldn’t be too bad I guess. But they really should just go by the wayside completely if possible …

I don't have high hopes, but maybe it will actually collect some useful information.

There usually is a free text response part, so feel free to unload on them there.

If there is a contract issue then how'd they get rid of them the first time in 2012? I know the planning time discrepancy between ES and MS/HS and it stinks, for sure. But this is not the answer.

It’s not a contract issue, it’s a pandering issue.

Snow days should become remote teacher workdays, if we don’t have enough snow days in a calendar TW days go to the summer.

I am sure it will be just as bad as the last one where they just asked yes or no questions instead of asking people what kind of trade-offs they might prefer. That allows them to point to the survey and say “see, people want a two week winter break, teacher, workday, and religious holidays off”.

Just vote no on anything related to teacher work days. They will then combine them with the religious holidays.

Maybe we should all vote for no holidays whatsoever so that it balances out in the end and they only keep half the holidays?

I hope it asks us to vote on a year-round school option! 9 weeks on, 2 weeks off, and an 8.5 week summer. (Plus, Labor Day, Memorial Day, and 3 days at Thanksgiving.)

No they won’t. You’re gross to not afford any workdays to teschers.

Isn't that what they do every time? Then they declare it impossible and do what they wanted in the first place and tick everyone off.

no one wants this.

Vote no on long winter break
Vote no on random religious holidays
Vote no on early release days
Vote no on 4 day school weeks

Vote yes on getting out earlier in the year.

Actually, quite a few people do want this.

They absolutely will, exactly how they have done with indigenous peoples/Columbus Day. Combining these days makes much more sense than trying to do both.
