100% agree. SSFS much preferred over Lowell. Plus, you can stay after MS if you want and go to the US.

I couldn’t disagree more. I have first-hand experience with both schools. The absolute chaos and disorganization that is the SSFS MS is something I wouldn’t put any kid through. Lowell’s MS actually holds students accountable and the students are curious, open-minded, and respectful.

And I couldn't disagree with you more. For transparency, I do not have first hand experience with either school but feel my second hand experience is worth noting. I am involved with a private area high school that has accepted students from both Lowell and SSFS MS. My experience is that the students from SSFS are more emotionally mature and have much better executive functioning skills and are more independent. Now, to be fair, the Lowell kids will grow but this is what I have seen so far in 9th grade for the past few years.

OP is thinking about Norwood and Lowell so let's keep the conversation on these 2 schools.

I'd recommend Lowell hands down over Norwood.

Confused… what are we looking at here?

We have 2 kids in middle right now there. Yes, there have been some typical middle school issues but they jump all over it if you bring it to their attention. We had a situation with a student bullying one of our kids for a few weeks and BAM. That was locked down so fast it made my head spin. They handled it amazingly well.

The current head of Middle School and Assistant Head are absolutely not going to let even a side-eye happen on their watch.

That is great that this was your experience. Our experience is that they put my kid's bully on their promotional materials. And another child with severe behavioral issues. It's perplexing.

Last poster, do you have a fifth grader?

No. It is obvious that the school does not take the complaints of multiple students and parents about bullying serious if these kids are on the promotional materials. A prospective family would never know that some of the kids on the website and pamphlets have been suspended, accused of bullying, and are disruptive in classes.

That is a big reason enrollment is down. When you have an hos that isn’t present and certain students rule the roost, other families are likely to seek better options - and there are way better options than Lowell - Norwood is just one of many.
