| Virginia Tech is one of only two major public universities to host a senior military college as part of a larger civilian university - wikipedia |
|
It has a military vibe
f you're ok with that, you do you |
|
Speaking of Texas A&M - yes def like VT in terms of ROTC ( just bigger and louder).
Any parents here whose kids are at Texas A&M Engineering? How has their experience been? |

| My son graduated from Virginia Tech engineering. He did not find VT to have a military vibe. It is a relatively small part of the university. |
+1 There is a troll who is determined to keep posting nonsense about VT. I think we all know why. |
|
It's a senior military college. Way more chilled than VMI but of the same origins. If youre looking for military college I think its the best option if you want to also experience a school not 24/7 military.
Plenty of students have nothing to do with it though. |
Only 1,000 students are cadets - out of 30,000 total.

Hard work and finding study groups/partners helps a lot socially. Peers working on what you’re working on builds connections. There’s usually a first year science/engineering residential choice. No need to worry about that being too small a world, bc as students find their way they branch out with clubs etc. Professors are responsive if students go for office hours. |
It’s a good thing that they are a progressive unit that embraces gay and bi cadets. |
Wiki doesn't say that. And there are six senior military colleges in the U.S. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Tech |
My kid is having a great experience at VT. Signed, Russian immigrant. |

DD is a senior. It’s been life changing experience for her. The job fairs are very well attended by companies. She found internships after sophomore and junior years and had a FT job offer in August before senior year.

+1 And my kid is minoring in Russian at VT! |
what major? |
