UVA, W&M and VT were all founded to exclusively educate white students. According to your reasoning, I guess that means the white kids at all three are still racist to this day. |
You’re not necessarily wrong. If your argument is that there could still racist structures and some racial issues you’d likely be correct. |
VT is a great student body. The drive is intelligent student body coming in, staff fabulous and overall ease of getting to games. For example some colleges like NC State have to get on a bus or drive to a football game pain in the neck. |
My daughter went to Tech, and she loved it. I will sa,y though, as a parent, a lot of the off-campus housing at Blacksburg is far away and requires a car or bus to get to campus. To me, that would be more important than getting to football games. (but I can understand the consideration of both) I also didn't love that Tech (with some exceptions) only had on-campus housing for freshmen, causing kids to scramble by October of their freshman year to obtain housing for the following year. Each school has its own pluses and minuses. |
Wow. I was wondering the same. I have a daughter at UVA and am wondering if the poster has ever set foot on grounds. (*Prepares to be blasted as a snob for calling it "grounds."*) |

My Hokie hasn’t found the off campus housing to be an issue at all. There’s a bus that picks everyone up if they’re in a neighborhood that isn’t close enough to walk. It’s very much like most larger universities in that respect. |
d Are the campus busses reliable at VT? |
Very. They run like clockwork. |
| I have a kid at UVA and the October housing issue is the same there. I believe there’s more options for 2nd years, but no guarantee they will be placed where they want to live (i.e. the newer housing). So expensive off-campus housing that has to be decided a year before is a thing everywhere. |

Just read that VT is in the top 5 for campus food.
Really? Blacksburg is not a culinary hot spot. What's driving VT’s food scene? |
That means the dining hall. HTH. |
Not really. VT was no 1 for great good even when we toured ten years ago. It wasn’t just dining hall. We ate at some very nice on-campus arteries that were not chains. |
| ^ much better than the Sedoku-style prison food my kids got at UVA and GMU |
