As for the weather, I’ve been up and out for work by 8 for over a week and don’t care either way about that. My HS kids love the late starts and it’s made the house so much more pleasant.

They really should have just delayed. Oh well.

You think? For how many more days? We think the one time call is fine at this point.

It's going to be a deep deep freeze overnight. Black ice everywhere. The rest of the week it will warm up. But on time tomorrow is a grave error.

I totally agree. And with temps in the single digits and nothing has changed at bus stops here. Reid is a moron.

I’m doubtful on the black ice. There would have had to have been melting today.

I see 10 degrees with a feels like of 4 at the lowest. It’s doable.

What temp do diesel buses have issues at?

I cant help but laugh at the comment in the email that "We are pleased to report that these efforts have done enough for us to return to our regular school day". Things look just as they did on Friday for my kid's school. Was Friday delayed unnecessarily or are they prematurely returning to on time?

We all know it was the former.

+1

Seems very strange given the cold emergency and the Super Bowl.

Not much, but some, where the sun is hitting the thin patches. We just got back from the store and what looked like wet spots was ice.

The world seemed to be out and about fine today.

Jan 8, 2015 FCPS had to close unexpectedly when the buses would not start

Jan 19, 2019 FCPS had a two hour delay when they anticipated that the buses would not start. (Announced the night before)

Honest question - do we have better technology now? At what temperature is starting buses an actual issue? Are drivers reporting early to work to address any issues?

FCPS has 70 electric buses. This is small number in their fleet of over 1,500 buses. I wonder if the electric buses are able to run this weather or if they need to go back to the depot more frequently to get recharged.

There were four overturned cars in Fairfax County yesterday and at least one today. It is not fine.
