+1 Administrators seem seriously removed from daily school life. No way they will carry a coat around all day on top of a heavy backpack, lunch, club sport gear, etc. Why do schools have lockers anyway?!

I was excited thinking about the minimal disruption to my day but when I thought about it, I really think this is a bad call. It’s too cold and too dark for MS kids (I don’t have one). The delay is absolute torture for elementary school parents so yeah I was excited for me. I would drive my kid in late to MS here (pp is right about Kirby).

Our coldest day of the winter was yesterday, Feb 7th, when there was an Extreme Cold alert. And yet people were out and about doing their usual errands and activities. Monday is going to be a "normal" cold. Everything is plowed.

There is absolutely not reason to delay anything.

None of the issues you’ve identified would be resolved through a 2-hour delayed opening. Are you advocating for a 3-week closure?

The MS kids would get daylight to stand and walk with a 2 hour delay.

I wish kids would use the lockers they've been given at my school. Very few use them.

The days are really lengthening quickly. My son walks to the bus stop at 6:40 and while the sun wasn't fully up, it was definitely lightening up. I know some leave a little earlier, but I think this was the right call.

Well, I do, and she left at 6:40 a.m. for the bus in her usual routine. It's always cold and mostly dark when she heads to the bus stop in winter. I support school opening on time today.
