When do students hear about merit and need based aid and whether they get a BK invitation? |
| MCPS, 4.7 weighted, 1520 SAT, good extra curriculars and didn’t get into UMD. Liberal arts. |

UMD protects their yield hard for liberal arts students, my older DS was rejected with similar stats while his friends with lower stats were accepted. He knows this because their small group of friends have been buddies since 6th grade and they share that info among themselves. They’re betting your kid won’t attend. |
Umd admits major blind. The arts and humanities would love if admissions gave one flying f!ck about yield for their majors. They also don’t admit in to more than one major. |
UMD has a yield of around 23%. NOT a priority. |

MCPS (W) accepted for mech engineering, honors.
3.98/ 4.9 1540 SAT |
Not true. |
AO says it like that but I also don't believe it's true. Student can put alternative major but I am not sure if it's even looked at. |
| MCPS (non W) 1480 in for liberal arts. College Park scholar |
UMD does not yield protect. You never know fully what goes into decisions. |
It is 100% true. |
