A plow was on our neighborhood street for about 35 minutes last night at 2am! Going over the same spots over and over. Thankful but now many driveways are blocked in and its a solid brick- so more to do today. How is it out there? Are the schools cleared yet? |
| My small side street (we are at the top of a hill) is completely ice. Plow came through for the first time late last night so you can't even see black on on the road. None of our neighbors have even tried to get their cars out. |
| We aren't having any school days this week. The sooner you make peace with that, the happier you will be. This rock hard snow/ice is difficult to remove and no one has any real urgency about it. Let's just hope the storm they are watching for this weekend misses us completely. |
Mine too. |
+1 Enjoy this time with your kids. The days are long, but the years are short. |
Yeah, yesterday we dealt with lots of the snow/ice on our sidewalks , and this morning we’ve got a new set of challenges. Some minor snow melt from yesterday turned into an ice rink at the bottom of our street and the plows re-blocked our driveways and packed snow / ice back into the sewer outlet we spent time clearing yesterday to allow the stream of melt to drain and not turn into an ice rink (there actually was some melt when the sun was shining). If they have school, it will be interesting to see the plan for getting the kids there! |

I agree with make peace no school this week.
The silver lining is they will be less likely to call off school for rinky dink BS after this. Meaning we get an inch or two of snow. Whereas at the beginning of the winter with no unused snow days yet, they will call off for things like that. |
We already had a couple of inches in Dec, and it was only a two hour delay. So they seem less likely to close school for just anything this year. |
| Stuff is the direct sun actually melting in my neighborhood, which I think makes it even less likely we'll be back tomorrow because it will just add to the existing ice |
Same. And I’m at the bottom of a huge hill. |
| I'm in south arlington and the roads are fine. My kids still had their hockey practices last night at Ballston. |

I went to a medical appointment today. Barcroft ES and Key ES parking lots and sidewalks appear untouched. The exit ramp off George Mason onto South Carlin Springs was closed because a tractor trailer was stuck at the top. I don't see any way kids are going back into school buildings this week. |
Sorry -- Barrett lots and sidewalks were untouched. I don't know about Barcroft. |
| I wonder if they’re able to get to that today? |
