Why can’t people see that Trump wants to be an authoritarian?

He has three years left. Look at the damage he has done in one year. There will be nothing left in 3. He completely ignores the rule of law, and he has removed any guardrails that would hold him accountable. He will not leave office. And if you think he will be forcibly removed, who exactly will be doing that? Trump has somehow hijacked this entire country. He has nobody to answer to.

The aforementioned pearl clutching.

He’ll leave. He’s about appearance above everything else. Being forcibly removed from the White House on worldwide television would be impossible to overcome. His ego couldn’t take it.

Who DOESN’T see that Trump wants to lead an authoritarian, fascist government?

It’s so obvious. We’re halfway there. I’m horrified.

Many were calling Trump a facist in the 2024 campaign-Even John Kelly his chief of staff during his first term said that Trump fits the definition of an authoritarian leader and the general definition of a facist. He said those words to major news outlets as a warning, having seen the sh**show that was the first Trump administration.

Americans voted for Trump anyway, and the adults in the room like John Kelly are long gone in Trump 2.0.

Well, there you have it. He lies as easily as he breathes, but sometimes he tells the truth. And now with dementia affecting his filter, he’s dropping a lot of truth bombs.

He tells the truth when he sees no need to lie.

This should scare you even more.

And because Congress does not have the political will to fix it they need a moderately authoritarian leader to do so. It all stinks but to me the finger points right back to Congress for not doing their jobs properly.

That's rich...Congress was getting ready to pass an immigration bill spearheaded by conservative Republican James Lankford when Trump told House Republicans to withdraw their support - because Biden signing an immigration bill would have hurt Trump's chances in the election.
I wish people would stop talking about this proposed immigration bill. We already have plenty of immigration laws on the books - that were completely ignored.

We don’t/didn’t need more laws. I don’t like Trump, but he solved this problem in weeks by closing the boarder, and making a few calls to the Mexican president telling her to turn those people around. Now, no one even tries to enter the southern border illegally.

What the hell are you smoking? He hasn’t solved anything with his gestapo. Where is any credible data that “no one tries to enter…illegally”? These is NONE. But there IS data that his completely performative, authoritarian and violent tactics have left communities shattered and allowed other crimes (sex trafficking being a big one) to proliferate. What was really needed, so that entire cities weren’t being invaded and attacked by these thugs and lowlifes was the funding and bipartisan cooperation that the legislation provided. What’s happening now is an absolute disgrace

The border stats are reported, you can find them yourself. Also, the networks during Biden used to cover the caravans traveling through Mexico, they must have magical just stopped broadcasting this b/c they love Trump, right?

You want to rant about ICE, that’s fine. The Border Patrol is not ICE.

If Trump and the GOP thought they could win with their policies in a free and fair election, we wouldn't be seeing all of these authoritarian tactics being deployed.

You believe President Autopen? I believe the news networks who say the illegal border traffic is nonexistent. This isn’t disputed.
