How good is Maret?

In the past there were episodes of sexual assault in maret that were released :

Why not released for antisemitism?

School spirit is high. We love this element and so does our student.

We liked that it was competitive but not a pressure cooker. The block scheduling in the older grades is nice for students and similar to college. Speaking of college, the seniors have great outcomes and something I looked at closely as a HYP grad.

The school is renovating bit by bit and I look forward to hearing more about the strategic plan this month.

Here are some stats we found helpful, especially on retention and diversity:

60% Of students are from DC
31% Of students are from MD
9% Of students are from VA
54% Of students identify as People of Color
96% Retention rate for Students
26% Families receive financial aid
39% Of faculty identify as People of Color
39% Of faculty have been at Maret for more than 10 years
71% Of faculty have master's or doctorate degrees
8% Faculty are also Alumni

I feel like when you tour, at least for the lower school when parents are making the decision, you’ll know whether you’re a “Maret family.” DC received several acceptances, including Big 3, and Maret was our first choice.

Yes, because it’s impossible that someone is unhappy with quality of education at maret. The only possibility is that someone is engaging in sockpuppeting.

Considering all the Maret posts Jeff has had to delete in the past because of sockpuppeting, yes

Uh, except tuition is 47k in k to 52k in HS

Sidwell is 59k in HS, GDS, STA, and NCS is 56k and they are all in the same location

Read again. Tuition plus fees is 55k in HS : https://www.maret.org/admission/tuition-financial-aid

Also families tend to prefer all those schools over maret.

lol no Maret is harder to get in 9th vs GDS, STA and NCS. It’s just a fact.

Also deleted because maret parents reported the posts and do not want any negative comments posted online.

I was not aware of the sexual assault cases.

I have two kids in high school (one at a Big 3) that came from a K-8 and it was well known that Maret is harder to get into and the administration at the K-8 repeatedly told us that was the case. Most of the same kids applying (at least a lot of overlap between Maret, GDS and to some extent Sidwell) for a lot fewer slots in 9th. That's not intended to be a commentary on the school or it's academics but just the reality of the numbers.

I agree that it’s harder. Although people here equate harder and better, they are not the same. That’s not a knock on Maret, it’s a great school.
Anonymous
At our k-8, Maret was the second or third choice of every single person who went. All preferred either Potomac or Sidwell or NCS/St Alban’s. The only ones who went to Maret didn’t get into their first choice. Those that got into their first choice went there and not Maret.

Oh but it is. You must not have any experience with the process or the schools listed. 9th grade is very competitive at all the school but Maret is harder to getting in vs the other schools.

This is when the all these school add top students to their class. 9th grade becomes a very unsettling year for the rising 8th graders because the new students are the cream of the crop.
