What does it take to get a little gun control

Yep, no problem. Let’s get ‘er done.

(p.s., there are 25 million AR-15s in the U.S.)

You're weak. We had it before and we can have it again, including getting rid of a lot of the ones already out there. Everything has a price. What does this country want to do with its wealth?

25,000,000 AR-15s x $4,000 = $100,000,000,000

Your move.

So comprehensive psych assessments before every gun purchase and for existing gun owners? Agreed, that's a good first step.

Unconstitutional and impossible.

We would be better off spending a lot of 100 billion for this ridiculous mass deportation program on a buyback program. That is a legitimate opinion and I think we would all get a lot more out of it.

There is over 20,000 laws on the books in the US about guns. Minnesota has "Red flag" laws on the books, yet nothing done. The parents or family are yhe first to notice and need to come forward, likely not happening.

Gun violence is leading cause of death for minors, not car accidents.

Look at the “minors” age range.

We already have plenty of gun laws. We don't use them in the areas where those minors are killing each other. We don't need new rules, we just need to enforce the ones we have against the bad guys.

You're still going to have some guns to to stroke and fondle. Certain ones won't be permitted. Relax. The Earth will continue to spin.

No, I'll keep my guns and make things safer by locking up bad people. Otherwise, people like you will move onto knife control because you can't bring yourself to support jailing criminals. It's weird.

And the funds would go to a lot of American families instead of a bunch of billionaires in the prison industry.

If we deport the illegals, Americans can be a cohesive group again and work to enact policies to support Americans. The only people who win with mass immigration are the billionaires. It's something the right and left should agree on.

the military doesn't use ar15s.

They use the M16 and M4, both assault rifles.

Again for those in the back, no one outside of the battlefield needs an assault rifle.

A refresher:

After the Port Arthur massacre in 1996, Australia (a country with a comparatively strong 'gun culture', at least by world standards) said "F**k this."

1) They made it illegal to import, buy, sell, trade, transfer or take possession of semi-automatic weapons (the mass shooters' favorite!)
2) Btw, ammosexuals, try to follow along: they did NOT seize anyone's semi-automatic weapons. If you had them, and wanted to keep them, fine, keep them -- just don't sell them or convey them to someone else, or you've committed a crime.
3) Simultaneously, they instituted a nationwide, no-questions-asked VOLUNTARY gun buyback program. If you have a firearm (any firearm, of any kind, operational or not) and would like to turn it in, the govt paid people $1,000 per gun (this was 25+ yrs ago.)

It's totally weird, but the mass shootings thing went way, way, way down. Imagine that.

That’s a false equivalency though. Driving has multiple prosocial purposes. Guns have one purpose: killing.

Mass shootings aren’t an accidental byproduct of some other activity, they are the activity.

I wouldn't call driving a prosocial activity though. Not on an individual or social level. The car has led to the destruction of the American landscape, the isolation of people from their communities and a crushing financial burden. The car kills people, cities and nations. Guns only kill people.

Let’s not conflate metaphorical killing of cities with literal killing of people. That’s irrelevant.

Guns are designed to murder, and marketed as such. Cars are not advertised based on how many pedestrians they can mow down.

Guns are no more "designed to murder" than cars are designed to kill other drivers and pedestrians. Both can be used for legal and valid purposes, or abused. The variable is the operator, and that's where the focus should be, not on the instrument they use improperly.

Guns are literally designed to kill something. There is no other function it performs.

What are you smoking? We're not a cohesive group. We never have been. We are not now and we never will be. Obviously we have differences only. We settle them by voting.

I think we should have a constitutional right to abortion. That got voted away from me and if I want it changed I have to change the vote.

+1. Children are put at risk everyday because loser men who like to play soldier don't want their toys taken away. Why does an ordinary citizen need an AR-15?

Trump has proven that nothing is unconstitutional. He's setting precedent for future Presidents.

Same. I had a trauma reaction to that and I’ve hated our country ever since.
