What an excellent opportunity for a teachable moment with your child about critical thinking, research, and not believing everything you see online.

Apparently, it takes 18 people to be killed in Maine to get something as basic as a red flag gun law passed.

Agreed. I like to remind my kids, when the truth is as bad as it is, no need to exaggerate it. While horrific, the deaths don't reach 9/11 numbers. Certainly, a great moment to talk about common sense gun control laws.

But since than we have had mass shooting at churches and schools and even the Amish have been victims. What does it take to do even the smallest reforms enacted?

Jesus this is ridiculous.

There will never be gun control as long as there are MAGA Red Necks which will never happen because they breed like rabbits.

I guess you can tell them that a few hundred thousand students experiencing gun violence is just a minor inconvenience of being a student in America.

More than 398,000 students have experienced gun violence at school since Columbine
There have been 435 school shootings since 1999, according to Post data

How about these liberal judges had out stiffer sentences for gun crimes??

Have you noticed that Democrats never solve anything? Immigration, public schools, crime etc?

Dems try to solve problems in ways that are sure to fail. That way they can rant & rave before the next election, & their gullible voters eat it up.

Then they get elected & fail to solve the problems again, so they can rant & rave before the NEXT election. Rinse & repeat. They.Never.Fix.Anything.

435 since 1999?

If a bullet flies from off campus and hits a school at 10 p.m. it gets classified as a school shooting.

A school bus in a neighborhood gets hit by a bullet, school shooting.

Drug deal gone wrong at 3 a.m. behind a school and someone gets shot? You guessed it, school shooting.

A gang member gets shot blocks away, stumbles onto school property and collapses. School shooting.

A depressed teacher shoots themselves in the head ina school bathroom stall gets classified as a school shooting.

The cultural identity of US is all about independence. NOT community.

This is the biggest reason why gun laws will fail. Forever.

There is no way this ever changes, best case is a waiting period and certain states adopt own strict gun laws but there's no way US policy changes because American pride will not allow anyone to think of others first. This is the land of capitalism, no free anything without strings. No parental leave or too much vacation time and certainly no universal healthcare as that would be too much helping others. It's the American puritan way of pulling yourself up by the bootstraps - work hard to succeed - always take care of yourself. It's all connected.
