Race on common app

Without the conscious preference of admissions committees, the URM population at these schools would drop in half

PP wrote Asian with high stats should include their race - why?

If you are Asian, don’t talk about heritage in your essays.

If you are high stats Asian, you still wouldn’t talk about heritage in your essays. But you should check the race box in common app.

AOs can’t see the race box, and your last name already says you are Asian.

By checking the race box, federal government can gather racial data, stats, and check if there is discrimination based on race.

There aren't enough to satisfy the demand.
There are more black students in Ivy+ than black students that scores 1400+ on the SAT

About half the black students at Harvard be going to Cornell and almost all the black students at Columbia should probably be going to Northeastern or NYU and the black students at Georgetown and NYU should probably be going to Penn State or Howard. These are all very good schools but they are not the same.

And you're the arbiter of where these black students at top schools belong? Funny.

What about the average legacy white boys going to these schools? Should they be going to Penn State or Elon instead?

Though as someone else said, if you aren't smart enough to drop it in your essay ("As president of my school's black students association..."), you aren't smart enough to go to the school.

Exactly!
My kids are Black and they will work it all day long.

My kids cited their background/ culture in essays from an inspirational standpoint. That's allowed. However, they had 4.0+ GPAs and 1500+ scores too.

The elites schools will get the best URMs.

Ignorant people think just saying you're black in an essay will get you into Harvard.

And your kid will be strategically selected to be the other Black kid in the class of '30.

They started hiding the race question from admissions two years ago.

The same time they worked in the diversity essay topics.

I didn't think legacy preferences are fair but they are not illegal like racial discrimination.

Is the argument that we should continue to racially discriminate in favor of blacks and hispanics because legacy preferences exist and that tends to help white people?

I didn't blame you. I wouldn't be proud of it but it's an advantage that you can't ignore.

There's less than 1000 black students with a 1500 SAT score. I don't think people think these are the kids that don't belong at top schools. But a black student with a scooter in the 1300s probably shouldn't be there.
