Is it true that there is still one that remains open in U.S.? In Bend, OR. It was a tourist attraction as the last Blockbuster. Family Video outlasted Blockbuster.

What were those small magenta convertible jeeps called? The original rav4 or jeep?

Are you thinking of the Geo Tracker?

I'm playing Leisure Suit Larry and hoping my parents don't come into the family room.

Simple because we were just more clueless as to what's going on.

The Geo Tracker? That was the epitome of a cool car for me when I was 16 (in 1996).

I had a boy in 1996 too. We got a video camera the year before (for kid 1) and it was a big bulky thing that my DH would actually haul with us everywhere.

We did recently digitize all the old videos (no birth videos!) - the now adult children actually enjoy watching them.

Yep. What did people do with those after they were done using them? Then the smaller versions came out. And what did people end up doing with the device and the cassettes? How did you digitize? What comes next if we can't watch what's been digitized?

I sent the cassettes to Kodak/Legacybox and paid to have them converted. We didn't have any way to watch them - they were a mix of miniDVs and some other cassette format (because we did indeed switch from the big bulky camera to the smaller one!!). We used to have an adapter that you put the smaller tapes in to play it on a VCR but of course haven't had a VCR for years. I guess if the thumb drives they are now on become obsolete we will have to move to the newest technology but I figure that's for the kids to do.
