Today gave us some answers but still more to come in the final few weeks.
Regarding Coppermine Black who came into this weekend undefeated. Well, that is no more. They lost both games of their tough doubleheader today, first to Hero’s by a score of 11-3 and then to Check-Hers 8-7. That leaves Coppermine Black at 2-2 this year with some ground to make up. Hero’s, BLC, and M&D are now the last three undefeated teams remaining. Check-Hers is the only team with one loss, and then a big group of two loss teams vying for four more playoff spots. |
| At this age especially, anybody can win on any day, but there's a pretty sizable gap between those top three and the rest. |
Kind of an odd statement to make considering all those teams have quite of few 1 or 2 goal wins over several of the teams below them. At least shows many of the teams are within striking distance unlike a lot of the other age groups where it seems like M&D and Hero's are a step above the rest. |
I said it after seeing all three of them play in the last few weeks. They're young and inconsistent, but those three really stood out. My real, honest take is that this year is going to be really competitive. Maybe I overstated what I thought. |

Huge showdown on Sunday between Hero’s and BLC. M&D has a doubleheader against Carroll Manor and Coppermine North, so they shouldn’t have a problem with either of them. Will be down to two undefeateds after this weekend.
Another big battle between Check-Hers and HOCO for playoff positioning to avoid facing one of those big three in the first round. |
Odds on BLC coach getting ejected again? |
Ejected? Why were they ejected the last game? |
I think in the last meeting (or at least recent meeting) at Western Regional, they were tossed for melting down on the refs. It was pretty wild. |
| I've seen coaches and parents ejected in NGLL. Nothing new. |
I would like to see that happen more consistently. I feel like the refs take a lot of shit from dumb parents and unless they start pushing back, those dumb parents will continue to be obtuse. Definitely times, I wish teams would be penalized for parents behavior. |
Agreed. They're sixth graders. If you can't control yourself, take a walk away from the sideline and think about how you're managing your life. |
| Why haven't all the scores been updated? NGLL needs to post scores in a timely manner. |
All the scores have been updated now although it took an absurdly long time to do so. In the spotlight game of the season Hero’s beat BLC 9-5. Hero’s and M&D are now the last two remaining undefeated teams but do not face each other in the regular season so will most likely have to wait until the championship game of the playoffs to see them square off. Hero’s, M&D, BLC, Check-Hers, Integrity, and Coppermine Black have locked up six of the eight playoff spots. The final two spots are going to come down to HOCO, Stars, MD United and Limelight. HOCO is currently in 7th and plays Rebels, so they will likely win and lock up the 7th spot. Stars is currently 8th but will likely lose to Integrity. MD United is 9th but still has two games remaining against Rebels and Coppermine Black. They will likely go 1-1 and advance as the 8th place team. Limelight is 10th with an outside chance but would have to beat both Check-Hers (unlikely) and Coopermine North (likely) to advance. Carroll Manor, Rebels, 3D, Skywalkers, Broadneck, and Coppermine North are eliminated from playoff berths. |
| It finally updated. Looks like Copp and MDU game this Sunday will be for a playoff spot. |
