VHSL Boys Lacrosse 2026 Season

Looks like they're talking about this on the girls page too. Sounds like VHSL Rule change or actual enforcement of the rules in Fairfax because of what happened at Hayfield is the reason behind it. Always a good event, disappointing it's going to be gone, I'm sure something will replace it.

I agree that it was too long a day and was more a war of attrition than anything. But it seems they could fix that by adjusting the format.

I don't know much about the Hayfield situation other than a coach was caught using player outside his school's district - can somebody explain what happened at Hayfield and how that would affect Turkey Shoot? on the surface it is hard to see how they are related.

I’ve heard that there is an increased focus on preventing recruiting and Turkey Shoot often required teams to pull in guest players to fill out rosters for full field 10v10 because of winter sport commitments.

Fundraising and school sponsored events on a Sunday are the issues.

It is not the reason behind it. They have had the rules explained to them and even linked and cited for them on that thread, but they still do not understand.
There is no new rule. And the rules as written do not preclude having the tournament.

Not a VHSL Issue, these are new to the 2025/26 School year for Fairfax County. Use of FCPS Fields, Sunday Events, and Program Fundraising. This is why VEL-Fall League and the new Madlax League are not impacted. They are still run on SUnday's, but there are not a fundraiser for a FCPS Program, and not on FCPS Fields/Facilities.

And these new FCPS rules/enforcement are a direct result of Hayfield mess last year - running private “training” on FCPS fields, requiring payments under guise of fundraising etc. So once again everybody else gets punished for actions of few who move on unscathed.
