LCHS has been playing Riverside and/or Indy for many years. How is this new?

I was saying they are playing BOTH this year. They haven't in the last couple of years. Looks like Riverside schedule is up also. Notables: LCHS, West Potomac, Oakton, Urbana, Dematha.

Yes, but notable that they choose to dodge Independence this year after Indy moved to 6. If they wanted to test themselves, I would have done Indy and dropped Oakton.

Those coaches despise each other. They aren't going to play each other unless they are forced to.

Riverside has played the hardest schedule in the state outside of Atlee the last 5+ years so if they're not playing Indy it's clearly not because they are afraid of competition. Probably has more to do with the allegations that Indy is a dirty team and they don't want to deal with the drama and potential injuries associated with playing them.

Or not tough enough?

Schedules out on LaxNumbers
Loudoun County
Riverside

Schedules out on MaxPreps
Gainesville
Langley
Woodson

A couple cool games out there. Riverside is playing DeMatha, Urbana, Oakton, West Po. Less 6A crossover than they usually have but cool to see them pick up another Fairfax team this year.

Looks like Langley is playing a smaller schedule than usual. Looks like they are doing another trip to South Carolina. Wonder if Oakton is going back too. Madison and West Po early in the season again.

No real surprises from County. Playing a local schedule but should provide some good cross over data between 4 5 and 6 with games against Indy, Riverside, Stonebridge, and Freedom.

Nothing too surprising from Woodson or Gainesville. Gainesville does play a few Stafford schools Mountain View, Brooke Point, and Colonial Forge.

Loudoun County graduated the Class 4 Player of the Year who set the VHSL records for goals in a season (119), points in a season (167) and career goals (289), along with their best defender. They're going to get crushed when they play those teams this year.

Yea they should probably just cancel their season.

Sure you could google it. They are from MD - won multiple state championships and are very often one of the best MD public schools.

There are several coaches that won't schedule INDY because of their coach the past 2 years. Indy becoming a very strong program, and likely again in 2026 likely factors in too now.

yes they will be strong this year, but back to reality after this year. The coach will certainly leave when his son graduates and he hasn’t done much to develop the younger levels.

Been hearing a lot of rumors that turkey shootout is dead. Anyone know why? Ripple effect from Hayfield football stuff last year?

Don't think it has anything to do with Hayfield. The tourney has been on life support for years. LaxNova took it over last year but they also run Fall Brawl and I don't see any sign of Turkey Shootout on their website. TSO was a much better event so it would be nice if it came back, but I haven't heard anything.

A quick note on Turkey Shootout- The tournament asked too much of the players in one long day of lacrosse. Madison forfeited the tournament after the quarterfinal game; lots of players injured and the others dead tired. The championship game between Robo and Riverside, while a good game, was played at a pace that was certainly not up to either teams' standards. A leading offensive player for Robinson got injured in the final as well as a leading offensive player for Riverside. Many Riverside kids I know did not go to school the next day because they were dead tired- I'm sure the same for not only Robinson but for other schools as well. Although TSO shows a little bit more of what to expect for the spring, the continuation of it would require adjustment to the format. You cannot sacrifice the health of these kids for 6 full games of lacrosse across one long, cold, day.
