Wake Forest and how it's viewed, especially in NC

Hmm. Maybe that’s a regional thing?

Outside of the East Coast it’s viewed more like a Barnard, Middlebury or Colgate for us.

Bucknell is for the bottom of the class.

Again, there are a few Wake trolls who regularly start threads about the school to write nasty things about it. You can see them here. They need to get a hobby.

No. At least re: the part about it being equal to Duke (and I’m a Wake booster who hopes to send a child there.)

When I was looking at schools, I would have been beyond thrilled to be accepted to Wake. I ended up at Syracuse (I'm from Greensboro)

It's just a prestige thing - considered much more selective than Wake. But it's not everyone's cup of tea, that's for sure.

Davidson takes the same kids as Wake does at our private. Duke and UNC (oos) much harder admits.

Not at our private, according to Naviance.
Wake goes down to 3.5-3.6uw GPA generally.
Davidson is 3.78-3.82
Duke is 3.9+

+1
Davidson admits at DC’s private Catholic have higher stats vs WF and UNCCH. Duke admits are on par with Ivies.

This is like asking what Texas' opinion of SMU is.

I guess Davidson just likes our private better, routinely takes kids ranked 20 to 40 percent and has for years. Seen as a target for most kids. The top twenty percent goes to Ivies and Ivy plus or NESAC. Davidson not on the radar for those kids, more a peer of
Could be.
Think Davidson is for kids at ours who are around the 25% or so. Peer to an Emory or so for us.
We get a lot into both in RD.

It would be helpful if both of you would named your schools. It no like you would be identifying anyone.

Dp, but the size is a big drawback, especially for juniors and seniors. I know a lot of kids who didn’t love it by graduation, and went on a lot of road trips to Duke, UNC and Wake.

My kids attend different Baltimore single sex private schools, and I am the poster who said Davidson draws from the same part of the class as Wake Forest.

Wake is the Tulane of North Carolina.

SMU is the Emory of Texas.

SMU and Emory are both equal academically the socially, their vibes are very different. Emory draws more from a liberal multicultural Northeast crowd while SMU skews more wealthy, conservative, traditional.

Up until I guess 2 years ago now, wake and UNC were essentially tied in the us News rankings. And this went on for years - Since the 90s, iirc
