+1 Karoline Leavitt didn't even know what a tariff was--it showed when she talked about it in a press conference. Hopefully she has learned by now. Good for Amazon to display costs transparency. Sorry the Trumpers want the private sector to hide the damaging effects of their crap policies.

I still don't think she knows what a tariff is. She is dumber than a box of rocks. When a reporter asked her about Amazon doing this, she said it was unfair because they didn't list "Biden's inflation" next to the cost of the item previously. What the heck is she even talking about?

She is just sad. I want to take her aside and say, “honey you know these men are just using you because you are blond- right?” She is wasting her 20s.

She's on display to marry one of the gang.

You know she’s already married, right?

To a geriatric. Starter marriage.

Bezos is a beta cuck.

And you founded a trillion dollar company and are launching people into space?

What good has that done? He's a billionaire and we're all screwed over.

Have you ordered anything off Amazon? Do you listen to Amazon Music or watch Amazon Prime? If so, you weren't screwed over. His companies employ hundreds of thousands of people, and tens of millions of employees are a direct result of companies supplying or selling on Amazon. So that's the good he's done.

What good have you done?

Regardless of whether it is rolled into the price or shown as a separate line the total amount paid (including the “tariff” surcharge) is taxable for sales tax. The “tariff” amount is not really a tariff when Amazon charges it to the customer, the tariff is paid to customs by the importer of record. A charge from Amazon isn’t a tariff, just a cost recovery.

Trump doesn't want you to know how much his policies are costing you.

DP. Who are you? Obviously don’t give us your name or location. But what do you do? Do you work for Amazon? I have never - literally, NEVER - met anyone who liked Jeff Bezos. I’m so intrigued by you! How old are you?

And Hitler built the autobahn and Mussolini made the trains run on time.

My DH hasn’t founded a trillion dollar company, but he’s way more alpha than any MAGA sucking up to men with more power and money in a gross display. I think free thinkers who don’t kiss @ss are a lot more manly than any MAGA men, who are weak in thought and action. I just don’t get the appeal for any guy like that, even if he has billions. It’s a total turn off. I’ll take DH’s million+ any day.

"President Trump said the other countries would pay the tariffs, but guys, I...I...it's not how it's working out. It's not, and I don't know what to do." Basically, several cars he's repairing have incoming parts that now have tariffs attached to them. He must eat the cost of these tariffs because the jobs are insurance repairs and he's already been paid by the insurance companies.

"I'm losing money. It's going to cost me to repair these vehicles. How am I going to survive? I can't survive paying to fix other people's cars."

I did feel bad for him because he 100% believed Trump that others would pay those tariffs. He claims to understand how import fees work but kept saying over and over "Trump said they'd pay not us" "Trump said" "Trump said".

Trump lies. Trump lies.

Don’t feel bad for them! Every iota of information in the world is at our fingertips; there is absolutely no excuse for ignorance, even belonging to a cult of stupidity.

I know many small and mid-size business owners who export goods from both China and EU, and am one of them. Most of us know very well who pay the tariffs. In fact, I got my first 'reciprocal'* tariff bill yesterday. Unfortunately, my lack of ignorance does not make the situation any better. Guess I'm lucky that my goods come from EU, so my product costs went up 'only' by 10/20% overnight. That amount I will add to the end price and hope that the customers will pay the higher price.

If I'd be importing from China, guess I would have to close my small business, as I don't think customers would swallow that price change for most products.

* It actually says that on the bill. If you repeat the lie enough times, plenty of people will believe it.

The problem is that would lower the value of your business because you make the same dollar amount profit as before, but at a higher cost of goods. This actually means your profit is lower—the cost to make the same money is more. You need to charge more than the tariff

There is a price point at which you begin to lose customers.

Indeed and he had quite the tantrum today in demonstrating that. Why wouldn't buyers see what the tariff amount on goods is? Sales tax is a separate line item, why not allow tariffs to be too...

Why don't they just include the tariffs for all products? Why wait for an increase?

Because the tariff amounts are different from different countries and effective on different dates because of Trumps exemptions and stops/starts. Which is part of the reason that businesses generally are so fed up. They can't make any concrete plans because things keep changing from one minute to the next.

Amazon should display the extra cost. Whether they list it as a tariff, delivery surcharge, import fee, or something else, the price should be clear. Because even if they role it into the cost, it's going to be plain to see that the cost of goods are going up. Just wait to all those subscribe & save people get their next re-up of whatever.
