Don’t spit on the staff and don’t walk on the beach at night. I’ve stated there many times and never even been on the beach. I don’t think the beach is private. I heard about people coming up and trying to get you to jet ski or do braids.

Not true.
On Atlantis itself it’s private and extremely safe.
He was being an entitled jerk to employees and he paid for it with his life.

Or the two things are unrelated.

People are being raped by jet ski company employees and being mugged at gun point. There are so many other places to vacation, I will just choose somewhere else.

Unfortunately stuff like this can happen anywhere. Would you pay a man in a poor area of DC to give you a ride to secluded area? Probably not. Why do it in a beautiful place and think it’s safe?

Atlantis doesn't even get good reviews.

People think because the water is beautiful that it’s safe and doesn’t look “sketchy“. Interesting if you put the same crime in Nassau as somewhere else, but took away the beauty, people would be scared shitless.

I’ll never understand why middle class America thinks Atlantis is so high-end. It’s huge, jampacked with people, overpriced cheeseburgers, and at least a shark attack a year.

Exactly. We are the target market - we like big popular resorts like Disney, cruising, waterparks, etc. But anyone who spent 5 minutes reading the reviews or talking to anyone who has been would probably not go. I have never spoken to a single person who said they would go a second time. That is always my first question to people about a vacation - would you go back/do it again?

Same. It’s pretty far down my list. They advertise a ton of shows like Wherl of Fortune though.

Got stuck on a cruise there once (long story) but we got off the boat and proceeded to get right back on. Nassau is a two-bit s-hole.

We’ve been with our 6yo and loved it. Wouldn’t go again because we like seeing different places, not because anything was wrong.
Only thing we didn’t like was the paper straws lol.

When I stayed at the Atlantis years ago I asked the hotel staff to call a taxi so I could go into town. They refused. I was a young woman alone as my BF was at a conference at the resort and they said I wouldnt be safe.

He and I went out together the next day and it was fine but I understood the concerns the hotel staff expressed then. We went out during the day and the vibe was very sketch

For what it's worth, I just went to Atlantis with my family (literally a week and a half ago). Full disclosure, I never wanted to go - my husband has been pushing me for some time. I was pleasantly surprised! The property was very nice, the staff very friendly (this has never been my experience in any Caribbean location), water park was super nice (my kids had a great time!) We never ventured off the property, and never ever felt unsafe. It was pricey, sure, and we had to literally go through the bill with a fine tooth comb and argue over some of the charges, but all in all, I think it was better than people on this board say.

Hardly a ringing endorsement.

Teacher here. Not really. I have a spitter every few years or so. I teach kindergarten and have been hit a few times.
