It's the reverse. Democrats were always just being good people, recognizing the human rights of all. Republicans engaged in identity politics by focusing solely on the identity and differences of the people whose rights were being protected. Republicans reduce people to otherness.

We are definitely going to have more posts like this for the rest of my lifetime because we are rolling back decades of progress. We had four 4-star women generals in January. Now, we have zero.
