Where in IPEDS schools submitted whom their peers are? |
WTF are you talking about?? It's not just 100K+ apps. It the combination of admissions competitiveness, yield rate, retention rate, graduation rate, cohort quality, outcome, etc. Northeastern beats Rochester in every single metrics. Demand is high because parents and students know the facts, and they act accordingly. Location is obviously a plus, but there are 100+ schools in the Boston area and most of them are mediocre. 'What if URochester was in Boston' is a useless dumb fantasy. Wake the F up. |

UR alum and Rochester native here. The academics at UR are pretty great; small class sizes, very knowledgeable professors, and generally a smart student body without being overly nerdy. There were a good amount of students from Boston/NYC/Philly/DC. Relatively diverse student body as well.
The big downside to UR is the location. The campus itself is nice, but not in a great part of town. In recent years, they've tried to build a college town area around the university, and there are a few shops and restaurants, but it's definitely not in the same league as Ann Arbor/Charlottesville/Ithaca. Additionally, I know others have touched on the weather, but its no joke. It's not even that it snows alot, it's basically cold and grey from November-May. I can remember multiple times when it snowed on graduation weekend. |
