When did they first say this was the plan? Nobody voted on it, and a 1.5% popular vote victory doesn't mean all Americans want every piece of the Trump agenda.

BS. Trump didn’t mention this a single time during the election. This is all Vivek’s little creepy obsession. And even he didn’t discuss it much until well after the election.

You know why? Bc it’s an idiotic thing to burn political capital on. Nobody cares, except a few nuts in the maga echo chamber. Show me a poll that indicates RTO is in the top 800 items of issues people care about. DCUM and Vivek’s twitter feed are a million miles from reality.

Trump doesn’t even mention it now! I doubt RTO is on his list of priorities.

Does it help you to get rid of people you don't "like"?

what if they accept 5 days/week in office but don't leave, while other better performance employees leave for other jobs?

NP. In my office the low performers are the ones against RTO. The high performers will follow the rules.

+1. One of those wants to do medical remote because spouse is having hip surgery. I am like WTF dude? Seriously?? I am not approving that?!?!

Chuckle. Yawn. Two mad mother effers cannot move this dinosaur. My worry meter is at zero.

Yes I do think they will. Too many issues because federal managers have no tools to track and there are too many feds abusing it. I understand that people say “focus on performance.” Well it’s not that simple. Feds have to be there for 8 hours or it’s time card fraud. And then it’s not all about your own performance- it’s about when others can’t reach remote workers to get assistance. Being part of a team doesn’t mean you get to work whatever 8 hours you want in a day.

I think they will at least implement 50% in office and cancel remote work. My agency at least actually has space, so that’s not an issue for us.

I’m a pretty strict manager and I’d approve that for a few weeks. I’ve also approved temporary remote work for other family medical emergencies.

What bugs me are the requests for “vacation remote work”. Renting a beach house and they will definitely still work 40 hours a week remote. And the fed in question has lots of leave- please just use your leave and enjoy your family.

In life, if you spread yourself too thin and try to do too many things at once, you'll succeed at none of them. DOGE seems to forget this key lesson. Just too unfocused.

Maybe DOGE is the new Wall.

You would? Dude is in the office only 2 days PP. I am thinking he should just use SL instead.

Show me proof it’s being abused

Of course they can track it if they even want to try. We have to use Teams, and a manager can easily message someone anytime to see if they are available. I’m sure IT can check our computer status to see when we were online if they really wanted to. Obviously none of this necessarily means work is getting done, but the same can be said about the office.
