As Vice President Kamala Harris and her campaign team get closer to selecting a running mate, the online left has centered their hostility on one potential candidate: Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro.
The most vehement opposition to Shapiro centers on his unapologetic support for Israel, and his criticisms of extreme anti-Israel student protesters. Some have also cited Shapiro’s support for school choice as a reason, though the governor vetoed funding for a voucher program last year.
A New Republic article called Shapiro “the one vice presidential pick who could ruin Democratic unity.” Shapiro, according to the article, “stands out among the current field of potential running mates as being egregiously bad on Palestine.”
A new online campaign from far-left activists called “No Genocide Josh” argued that Shapiro will get in the way of Harris’ efforts “to gain the trust of working-class, progressive and young voters.” It is in Democrats’ “best interests,” according to a website associated with the campaign, that the nominee “support the majority of Democrats and Americans who want social and economic justice for workers and an immediate ceasefire in Palestine.”

Shapiro was one of the leaders of the anti protesters movement. His selection will split the party.

There are very few pro-Hamas members of the Democratic Party. Most of those folks either don’t vote or vote green/throw their vote away some other way. Won’t split anything.

Correction: Pro-Palestinian

And they absolutely do vote and their votes actually matter more than ever this year because they are in the Midwest where the president is anctuallt decided and states are won by a 1-2% difference. Hillary lost by 44k-78k votes across three diff. states .

Ilhan and Rashida didn’t get to Congress in the Midwest because their communities according to you don’t vote or vote green.

Mark Kelly showing up to save the day, right?

Democrats are seeking a rare moment of unity, let’s not ruin it my picking Shapiro as V.P. I say this as someone e who actually likes the guy, but the current political climate doesn’t favor him. IMHO, Mark Kelly or Andy B are the best choices.

The party would split. Pro Israel dem who is out spoken against protesters(ie wants protesters arrested and their constitutional rights stripped) on the ticket loses this election.

Bull. Watch to see which state she is in on Tuesday--Pennsylvania, Minnesota and or Arizona--and you will know. My guess is still Shapiro. Kelly is not a pit bull.

Just answered my own question. She is scheduled to be in Philadelphia for a rally and she isn't going to announce the Gov. of Minnesota or senator from Arizona in Pennsylvania, is she. It's Shapiro.

OP, your source needs a new day job!

All the speculation I see says it's Shapiro.

I’d love a Jewish VP, but she’d be foolish to choose Shapiro. She’s already a woman, and a woman of color at that. If she’s a realist, she’d know that she must choose a white man, probably one older and more conservative than she.

Why does she need a Pit Bull? Aren’t we sick of the nastiness? Kelly is everything she needs to attract non-MAGA republicans and independents.

It's going to be Walz. The Philadelphia thing is just a red herring to throw people off.
