There are so many different options & paths- you have lots of solidarity here, many families are in the same boat. But the right solution is different for every kid.
For my DC who was like yours in elementary, we homeschooled in middle. He just couldn’t handle going to school. So homeschool with weekly activities to foster social skills (sports, art & enrichment classes). In high school, homeschool + dual enrollment classes at community college & participation in public high school sports & clubs. Was able to then go to college & be on track with his classmates - he matured a lot in high school, & the demands are so different in college - he was fine. Lots of kids don’t fit the school mode. It is really hard. It’s a lot of effort in coordination, finding the classes & opportunities. But it was the right mix |
