Well, the protests on the Ivy league campuses have replaced the porous Mexican border as the reason to support Trump on Fox news. Their current headline is "Antisemitism Anarchy: Violent backdrop to this year's Passover as tensions flare at Ivy League universities with violent anti-Israel agitators unleashing chaos."
I do think that some of the protestors *want* to get Trump elected. You know, to resolve the inherent contradictions in late-stage capitalism or some other BS. |
DP. Parts of their cause are just. Support for Palestinian autonomy, calls for peace and humanitarian aid, and criticisms of Israel are not only fair game, but deserving of widespread support. Unfortunately, those folks have allied themselves with people who call for the destruction of Israel, support/justify Hamas, and engage in overtly antisemitic acts. By allowing and supporting this, the protesters have irreversibly tainted their cause and done a horrible disservice to Palestinians. |
so the fine- if teh universities are so useless, dont go or send your kids? Also these protests are NOTHING compared to the protests these kids boomer/hippie grandparents got up to during the Nixon administration. I think that antisemitism is a real problem- you can see how deeply embedded it is but just feeling afraid b/c you are different is something that every other minority on campus faces, If you want the sympathy you have to also endure teh sufferring- yourselves, not hand me down suffering from your grandparents. |
? Are you saying it's a GOOD thing Jewish kids are faced with antisemitism on campus? Would you say that about any other group? |
This is why the trend of parents paying for college these days is ridiculous. An 18yo should not be leashed in by their parents every time mommy or daddy don’t like their thoughts or actions. No wonder kids are so anxious. |
Since the protesting students are now being suspended and evicted from their dorms, it would be awesome to see the homeless moved into their rooms on campus. |
Israel supporters: I can excuse genocide, but I draw the line at kids protesting genocide. |
One of the kid protesters is a big exec daddy's girl who killed two people and paid a $200 fine for it. Another one lives in a 3 mil mansion in Georgia, another one has mommy in Congress and is now crying homeless and starving. They are just a bunch of idiots and really are giving Columbia a bad name, |
These kids seem perfectly comfortable advocating for a genocide of all Jews. |
America seems to be having its Pravda moment. I have yet to read a report in the corporate media in which readers are given any evidence at all about what students have said on any of these campuses that constitutes "anti-Semitism." |
For me, it's more like: I'd join protests for peace and a two-state solution, and even in punishing the current Israeli government, but I won't join calls for the elimination of Israel or cheer on Hamas. Because those things would be as horrible (or more horrible) than what Israel is doing. So your extremism has lost me and the many, many people like me. |
Sounds like you have a reading problem. |
Then you're not reading carefully. Blood libel poster against Chemerinsky. Blood libel poster at Harvard. Obvious and overt antisemitism. Not even arguably about Israel--only about Jews. |
What annoys you is music to the ears of others. Students are protesting against repression and you find them somewhat grating. Go figure. |
The boy who cried wolf. |
