Why?

DP but it seems to me that at least one poster knows an awful lot about a former B-list celeb.

Not sure who you're referring to but like them or not, both Jolie and Pitt are A-list (or maybe former A-list) celebs.

Every six months she brings up the accusation of abuse. Discrediting him hasn’t worked with this or his cheating on Aniston. When will she realize she can’t hurt him?

What does it say about us that this druggie womanizing adulterous wife and child abuser is still so popular?

Oh wait nevermind - tons of them in 100 years of movies and we never let it bother us.

If I had a partner who turned out to be abusive to me and my kids, I'd be angry about it and never let it go either. Brad Pitt is scum and Jolie has every right to be angry and not to want to let anyone forget who he is.

Indeed.

It's so clear to me that posters on DCUM tend to criticize women the most in a celebrity break-up, and women politicians, and any women in the limelight (think British Royal Family). Women holding other women to higher standards than men is as old as humanity and a terribly damaging sort of misogyny.

Women don't have to be perfect and blameless to be given some grace, nasty posters! They don't need to turn the other cheek all the time while men get away with outrageous behavior that is normalized "because they're men, and behave that way"!

Jolie has a very high IQ and is a challenging person to live with, but that doesn't mean she should get more blame than her ex-husband in this, and any situation. Pitt has skated through life on his good looks and star quality, has never behaved well towards any of his wives, and has well-known addiction and anger issues.

Come on, people.

This. When I first heard about the alleged assault and divorce, I admit I thought she was trying to play PR. However, the FBI report of what happened on the plane was pretty damning. The description of Pitt’s behavior was disgusting, and if I were one of his kids I’d be terrified. I definitely would not be interested in spending time with him, especially if he was publically denying anything happened. His PR team has been working overtime and has largely convinced the public that the FBI said Jolie was lying. In fact the anonymous lawsuit she filed was to find out why the DOJ dismissed the case after a closed door meeting, if an FBI agent filed a statement of probable cause (ie that he was in fact guilty). Valid question from an abuse victim.

Consider the situation both ways. If Pitt is telling the truth, what is there for Jolie to gain from dragging out the divorce and why would her kids stand by her and not him? If Jolie is telling the truth, is she behaving in a way consistent with an abuse victim? I don’t particularly like her, but I suspect she is telling the truth - her behavior is consistent with an abuse victim who wants to see the perpetrator held accountable. I also don’t think Brad Pitt remaining in Hollywood is a strong argument either way - look how long Harvey Weinstein lasted. Unfortunately, America isn’t quick to cancel women and slow to cancel men - and quick to forget and welcome them back.

this and post 10:49 is where my feelings are at. She's was weird as heck younger and she's not relatable or approachable. Also the whole serial homewrecking LOL, but I also love other actresses who are serial homewreckers so I can't judge too harshly. His friends thought she was lovely in the VF article so there's probably a side to not really seen. Her brother has a good relationship with their father now but still maintains he was abusive. He's weird too. Wonder if they actually have CTPSD then BPD

I do believe her and the kids for the most part though. I bet brad doesn't remember what he was saying or doing when inebriated. What happened is no one's business but his PR team did go out their way to downplay his addiction and his behavior. The stories surrounding Maddox were never nice. I don't blame the boys for not being around him at all. At least kids seem to be doing lovely and are grounded which is a good thing. Zahara with her sorority and Vivienne helping with shows. it's good to see. I wish they would have came to an agreement about their custody.

I still see nasty racist comments about Maddox and Pax. They defend his behavior by shifting the blame on them. They should have publicly stopped that from the start.

I don't give an F about Angelina Jolie. I find her extremely distasteful and she probably is crazy. These types of comments are too often said about any woman who speaks up against a man, and that's what I find objectionable.

I'm sure the vast majority of Hollywood stars of either gender have serious issues and are jerks. Including Brad Pitt, even if he happens to be one's celebrity crush.

You are ignoring the fact that she aggressively discredited him, made reprehensible charges, alienated him from his children, and painted him to be som viscous drunk abuser, which the public gobbled up.

The PP's point was that he can be guilty of exactly what she claims even if she is also mentally unstable. In that case, he is the one who discredited himself, acted reprehensibly, alienated himself from his children, and behaved as a vicious drunk abuser.

To what end? He was investigated and no criminal charges filed. I don't see him blaming her for his mistakes, unlike her. This is a private matter she wants to keep making public which doesn't help her terrible image. And apparently isn't hurting his, so, move on?

I see mostly "ageist" comments towards them, not racist comments. Racist comments are clearly wrong but not sure if addressing them is best or if the British Royal Family approach is better.

Repeatedly making bad choices then complaining about them doesn't mean you deserve a lot of consideration from the public. How can you even claim to know this? Most addicts/alcoholics hide their addiction very well from everyone outside their very immediate family/friends - sometimes even from family and friends.

It's bad for the kids. Discrediting the ex, publicly trashing the ex, for their bad behavior is bad for the kids. Bad for their kids and bad for your kids (if I understand your post correctly).

That goes for all women.

What does she deserve? She divorced her abusive DH. Then she publicly vilified him and prolonged an extremely contentious divorce over years. She is only getting what she deserves.

Repeatedly making bad choices then complaining about them doesn't mean you deserve a lot of consideration from the public. She has enough money to pay for therapy, that would probably be better for her than trying to convince the public she's a damsel in distress. She's too old for that nonsense. She should take some ownership of her bad choices.

Is he too old to take ownership of his choices?

He's clean and sober now. Is that not clear enough? Is she?

How can you even claim to know this? Most addicts/alcoholics hide their addiction very well from everyone outside their very immediate family/friends - sometimes even from family and friends.

DP. He is publicly clean and sober, which of course is all we can ever know. That is to his credit.

It's been reported widely. Also he's been steadily working and it's hard to maintain that physique, at his age, with a poor lifestyle. Do you have a shred of evidence that he's not?
