Please cite your sources about the “intention” of minimum wage jobs. My grandfathers both worked their entire lives in service jobs and were the sole earner providing for their large families. |
This is the biggest lie on here. I remember reading from the liberals that to limit PPP loans or continued unemployment payment or the stimulus checks to those who REALLY needed it would be too cumbersome and the money wouldn't get to people in time. Your recall of events is outright wrong. |
Does´fast food’ contain any actual food? Not much. |
DP and so did mine, in construction. That would be impossible now due to the influx of cheap exploitable immigrant labor. Minimum wage is a starting point to get people on a ladder. It is true that unfortunately, a few people never get past that - usually there is some kind of cognitive disability, and those people may always need some help to make ends meet. However, the vast majority of workers do not make minimum wage their entire lives. I am very glad that Gov Youngkin vetoed the increase to 15, because I worry about my kids being able to get their first jobs as teens if there are fewer entry level positions. What is needed is not a minimum wage increase, but more freedom and incentive to build more housing, and more affordable housing, which is currently being restricted by a combination of NIMBYism, rent controls, and a plethora of other restrictions and regulations. Subsidies do not address the fundamental issues. |
This is a bold face lie. They are not exempt and no one is backtracking. The minimum wage did not go from $16 to $20. It went to $17.28 per hour. |
If this is wrong then cite your sources and show your math. |
For someone who is "hilarious and uninformed" I started, managed, grew and retired from several successful and thriving businesses, and have done a countless number of detailed cost buildups, pricing models and business plans over the last several decades and learned how to do it well to make businesses thrive and adapt to external changes that affect costs and pricing. Have you? And from my experience, many small business owners are actually not that good at doing those things, which is part of why many small businesses fail. |
Consumers are eating out more than ever. Nearly 53,800 restaurants opened their doors last year. Up 10% from last year, and even higher than pre-pandemic. Some of the fastest-growing restaurant categories include dessert shops (up 66% in 2023 compared to 2022), creperies (+63%) and hot pot joints (+53%).
We can complain about food prices all we want, but clearly people have enough money and confidence to spend on going out to eat. Even the types of restaurants growing fastest are definitely very discretionary spending types of places (dessert shops, creperies). Prices may be up but incomes are up more. |
The insanity of Democratic politicians from California is not a representation of people in this country that identify as Democrats. Californian politicians are in their own sinking boat. Leave the rest of us out of it. |
Democrats in Congress proposed the PRO act that would nationalize California's AB5. When this didn't pass, Biden passed it as a regulation. The difference between California and national Democrats is that in California Democrats have more numbers to pass more crazy ideas. We see this in lots of cities where they ban plastic bags in grocery stores. |
Banning plastic bags counts as a crazy idea? |
You still have to separate the will and agendas of politicians from the political desires of their voters. Politicians of our two major parties don't act on behalf of 95% of their voters. They have no choice but to prioritize the wishes of their wealthy donors. Our government is not currently functioning in a manner that is for the people and by the people. |
It’s like adrenaline. You need to stop pumping it into a person once they have gotten enough. It would have been stupid NOT to try something when the economy was stopped cold just like it WAS STUPID to keep pumping after things stabilized and reopened. That’s not hard to understand. |
