| when we visited both my daughter preferred alabama. |
Why? |
|
DC like both but Auburn better known for Engineering and when DC and DH toured the Engineering buildings they were very impressed.
Auburn merit is also pretty good. I know four boys from this area planning to attend Auburn. |

What does it mean “hookup culture”? Thanks for sharing your experience. |
| You need to tour both schools as most have a definite preference between the two. |
For med school everyone in AL goes to UAB. Why would you pick Tascaloosa? |
| I’m shocked how many people judge schools by how cute the campus is and not by its programs and culture. |
considering that many premed graduates are *from* alabama, why wouldn't they go to the in-state option UAB. you konw whatthey call graduates of the UAB med school? doctor. |
That is true for med school but not undergrad. |
| Lol |
didn't even apply to auburn. i don't really know. she keeps a lot to herself. in the end, she applied to and was accepted to UA with a full scholarship. graduated with a chemical engineering degree and all the prereqs to apply to med school, pa school, pharmacy school etc. was a little undecided about what she wanted to do. working now at ... an investment bank you all are familiar with. i think it all worked out pretty well.

If my daughter would have pursued med school it would likely have been in our home state. |

Alabama gets such a reputation for a big Greek school - and it is. But I have 4 relatives who went there - all on significant scholarships. They've all gotten out of college debt free and one got his doctorate at a highly ranked computer science program.
They all enjoyed their time there and found their people. |
