By "diverse" do you mean poor or black?

Racist, much?
So which is it, poor or black?

OP here - in my case, more diversity means lots of things, one being economic diversity. I am a single mom, and cannot afford a house, so we always live in condo buildings. I am far from poor, but I do not live in a $ 2 million house either. That is the other reason I am considering Westland/BCC.

Being a single mom means nothing as you can be having a very high income. The schools will be pretty similar so pick the house you like. You can afford a house, just maybe not in the area you want. Condos aren't always great with condo fees.

OP here - I cannot afford a house, thus the condo.

Condo's in that area cost more than houses in other areas. You Can afford something nice but you want to live in that area. Then, you'll come back complaining about other things because you choose that area. Good luck.

OP here - aren't you just the sweetest .....
You can purchase condos for $ 300-450K in the Westland/Pyle neighborhood. Where can you buy a house for that much? Please do tell me. Due to work and other issues, I am not able to move to Germantown or places far out like that....but thanks.

Silver Spring, Kensington, Wheaton.. You forget condos have large condo fees.

OP, divorced mom here. Found a rental house in bounds for Pyle for less than a condo w/fees. Definitely look around. We enjoy having a small yard and garden. Condos don't always appreciate much, ymmv.

My kids had a good experience at Pyle and I'm not rich. There was more economic diversity than I expected.

Perhaps OP doesn't want her kids shot or stabbed at school and that's why she's looking where she's looking.

DD hated Pyle as did many of her friends. Most teaches are mediocre but there are also some terrible ones. I assume it's the same everywhere. Electives are a real weakness. We heard the music programs are good but the teachers of the other classes DD took are lazy and can't seem to hide their disdain for their jobs. There are a lot of racial tensions and it's not just about the kids. Some of the teachers seem to resent the mostly white kids and their families and take it out on their students. There are some entitled and stuck up kids and families so it's not like the kids are blameless but it just creates an unpleasant environment.

This sounds like a progressive fantasy cooked up in the produce aisle of the Takoma Park Co-op.

Those of us (including doctors and lawyers like our family) who choose diversity (racial AND economic) for our kids prefer that people like you stay over in the west side of the county. We don't want our kids associating with people who think like this and perpetuate these ridiculous ideas.

Exactly, that's why these schools are better. Look what's going on at some of the wealthier schools.. it isn't good. Look at what's going on in other places like Montgomery Mall too.

So you’re saying there is no violence in schools over there?

You will get much more economic (and racial) diversity if you move to the Silver Creek catchment — it also feeds to BCC.

So there is violence but it’s an acceptable level of violence for your middle school child?

Tell me when/where random kids are getting “shot or stabbed at school” ….
