How Many Books Will You Have Read This Year?

342 Not counting audiobooks. I, too, am in Goodreads' top 25%.

38. Fewer than I would have liked - I try and aim for one book a week, but life got in the way last year.

300, but it’s what I do for a living.

PP who read 342.

If you do not read for a living and you aren't counting audio books, how do you read almost a book a day?

Not working? The books are short? Speed read? Really curious.

About 50.

40. Was trying for 52 but I started a new job in September that’s been pretty overwhelming. Finally back on track!

I only work part time. I read really quickly. It's just the way my brain works. And about 50 of the 342 are children's picture books, mostly non-fiction, but only 32-48 pages.

Except for the poster who read nothing, we are all in the top 2% of US adults for the year.

I read 91 books not counting what I have read with my children (we read about one chapter book a week together plus I read children’s books with them individually).

What is your job? Are you a book reviewer? An editor?

I love how this is everyone's immediate assumption. You must not work if you prioritize reading. Check your phone usage stats and turn off your TV before you assume people don't have time to read.

I read about 50 pages an hour. A 400 page book takes 8 hours. I read about 30 minutes in the morning before starting the day and then I read about 3 hours after evening routines are done. Sometimes, I'll borrow the book and the ebook at the same time and listen on my commute to continue the book I've been reading. It's really easy to read a 400 book in a day and a half.
