Weed doesn't smell like rancid gyro meat cooked in diesel exhaust. Also, potheads don't congregate on the mall; that's a Chinatown thing. |
Exactly. Because potheads smoking in public on the federal Mall know they are subject to arrest. As they should be. |
| I see the Food Truck Operators filling their generator with diesel and then serving a gyro 5 minutes later. I'm thinking his hands weren't very clean when he assembled that gyro. |
A Gyrorater sandwich. Yum. |

Agree, it’s a joke:

The problem is the city went too far the other way. It used to be just hotdog trucks and the eggroll trucks and they were very far in between. Now you walk down the mall and the food trucks are lined up, bumper-to-bumper with the same low quality, shty food. In addition to the terrible food, you have the smell of exhaust and the loud noises from the generator and the obnoxious music. They need to go back to a few trucks not so many. |
This isn’t true. Back in the 80s basically all of the street parking along the mall from the Washington Monument to the Natural History museum was vendors catering to middle class, mid-American tourists. You could - and still can - buy a hot dog, soft serve, Female Body Inspector t-shirt, and whoopi cushion. The complaint seems to be from people who think it should be all bagels and pour over coffee. |

Sure, DC or the Feds can run a clean concession and charge reasonable prices. |
So Americans aren’t the only people with ridiculous ignorance when it comes to geography… |
Ha. It’s also funny for someone claiming to be French and saying something so silly when the Eiffel Tower and Parc du Champs de Mars are basically their National Mall equivalent and it’s a big, wide open space where there very little to eat over there either and lots of chintzy touristic souvenir crap with the closest food options are a Starbucks and a Burger King. |
| I agree. The view of the National Mall is a disgrace. It looks worse than any Capital in the world. The toxic fumes of the trucks and disrespect for the parking rules of the truckers (mostly middle easter ones) is just crazy. How is that if you park in the mall incorrectly they put you a ticket right away, however the food truckers can do whatever they please. |
| How can a self proclaimed green city allow the large number of those noisy, loud and stinky trucks ??? |
Really? I had no problem finding good food in touristy areas in Paris. You only had to go a couple of streets back from the main drag. Same with London. Much harder in D.C. |
