I wish nonsense like this would turn people away. Yale is my kid’s dream school!

To be honest, crime concerns and lack of STEM strength have turned people and away and pushed Yale to the bottom of HYPSM, and I’ve seen more than a few posters just using HPSM to refer to the best schools (HPSM are equally strong in humanities and STEM and have “the best of both worlds”).

well this year they had record high applicant numbers and record high yield rates, so… I think Yale’s doing OK for itself, despite the sincere concern of “more than a few posters”

"more than a few posters" who never went there and whose kids have no hope of getting in. But thanks for your opinion.

Yeah…MIT is really known for its humanities.

MIT's English and creative writing departments are really good. And, unlike Yale, Sloan's Business school is genuinely good.

Yale has been coasting for years. Extremely overrated school for undergrads.

Actually it's known for its undergrad experience.

Reality: no one says HPSM except trolls trying to boost lower Ivies.

I didn’t go to any of these schools, but I’m sick of the Yale, Columbia and UChicago bashing. It’s so stupid.

Me too, don’t get the Yale hate. We visited when my kid was looking at colleges and we both loved it. I truly felt a sense of community and it felt like a very special place.

Unfortunately, my kid didn’t get in but I wouldn’t bash the place.

It's just jealousy. I haven't heard anything but love from anyone who's toured it lately.

Anybody else just sick of Yale alums, both on DCUM and in real life, gushing about how much they loooove Yale and how much they miss it!?!

It is nauseating!!! The rest of us don’t care to hear how great Yale is.

you'd rather bash it based on zero actual knowledge

The more recent Yale grads I know are the least annoying and most humble of the HYP group.

Niche doesn't agree with you. Yale is #1.

Nope, not sick of this at all. I like to hear feedback from people who actually know something about a school. It's helpful as my kid considers schools.

Why would this annoy you? If you're not interested in Yale, just scroll by.

People only have experience with the schools they went to or where their kids go to. Anything posted by others are simply impressions. But the impression is that Yale has lost a few steps. Maybe it's accurate. Maybe it's not. But I think generally, when it comes to HYPSM, the Y doesn't belong

Based on what? Niche just ranked Yale #1.

People on DCUM freak out because Yale was late to the elite CS party. They are putting resources into it now though and have done a lot to improve other slightly weaker areas too (like the b-school).

+1 Bunch of troll posts by people with a chip on their shoulder because they and/or their kids were rejected by Yale.

Remember that Harvard and maybe Stanford now are the only schools with the global name recognition Yale has. That doesn't mean Princeton and MIT are not as good but Yale isn't going anywhere with the brand name and massive endowment with total assets only behind Stanford and Harvard.

It would have been more helpful to include the surrounding areas since no one stays on campus 24/7.

Fordham University would probably be #1.

Suck it Harvard!

Harvard doesn't care. They don't care at all.
