What is the best compliment you've ever gotten?

A patient told me that because of me and our team at work, he did not die by suicide. I wept.

Many have told me I look younger than my younger sister and she’s had work done. She would probably not be happy so I keep it to myself. But it makes me smile.

One time when I was 17 I was getting ice cream and a lady stopped me, close to tears, and said “I just know you are Diane’s girl, you ARE her.” And it was a lovely lady my mom went to highschool and college with and it was such a wonderful experience for me. I really was struggling without her and especially grieving that I never really knew her and just knowing that I looked that much like her and that I reminded others of her really helped me get through my young adulthood!

That is beautiful.

She lives on in you.

I was in a small group discussion class in college and a girl in my class just turns to me and says “you are so beautiful”. I’ve had really low self esteem my entire life resulting from a childhood of emotional and physical abuse and I was utterly speechless when she said that to me. I think I mumbled a “thanks” but that was the moment I began to realize that maybe I wasn’t worthless and ugly, and maybe I had things to say that people wanted to hear.

I’m a secondary teacher. I’ve gotten letters thanking me for teaching them the subject, for helping them achieve more than they thought they could, for running a tight ship that allowed learning to occur in a calm environment, and other specifics that made me feel good. But the best one that I ever received was a letter from a student who told me they always knew they would be treated with respect when they were in my class or with me. I cried.

I am missing a tooth on the side. I have not gotten it replaced. I just live with being self conscious about it instead of getting it fixed and I get told many times I have a pretty smile.

"You are far too good for this world".

That’s fantastic. Go, you.

I love the story about the old lady in the restaurant who sees the unhappy kid and says what amazing eyes she has. That's the only story here worth reading.

And mine obviously.

You sound like an unpleasant person.

You make me feel so good and filled up inside.

I was talking to my MIL about my sister who is extremely organized and great at planning things and was lamenting that I am not. My MIL replied, “But you are so much fun”. This was about 20 years ago and I still smile when I think about that.

Yes! I get this one. I'm 10 years older and I cackle every. single. time.

This says a lot of what you think about your sister and how vain and shallow you are.

+1

Same. Curious if your sister actually brought your photo in to the surgeon?
