I always like to go to grocery stores to buy local snacks/ cookies/ candy etc.
Jams from Europe are great too, not as sweet as those you find here, and you get interesting flavors like Reine Claude plums etc. Local markets are a great way to find cute items - jewelry, scarves, shirts and dresses, art. Home goods like cookie tins, cute towels etc. |
| I like a Christmas ornament. It's pretty much all I buy and I only get one per major trip. |
| Nothing really. You can get 99% of this stuff in the US. |
| Custom fitted leather jacket in Italy |
We do this too. These ornaments have turned into fun little conversation starters whenever we decorate the tree as we reminisce about the places we visited. |
What a nice idea! |
Same! Putting up the Christmas tree is a really fun task. I also enjoy my parents tree with all their vacations. |

I do an ornament from each location. Some faves for where you’re going:
France: fancy hand soap, pharmacy face moisturizing masks, kitchen linens, chocolates, macarons, letter pressed stationery Italy: ceramics, tiles, espresso cups, olive oil, balsamic, lace, pistachios Spain: ham, olives, saffron, tinned fish if that’s your thing Greece: woven hand towels, clay number tiles, linens, leather sandals, honey |
Are we the same person? +1 to all of the above - including the leather jacket in Florence! |
Question on this; haven’t tried to bring meats (ham etc) because I though it’s not allowed?? |
| My newborn! |
Don’t bring meats. It’s not allowed. If you declare it, they will take it. If you don’t declare it and get caught you’ll lose Global Entry privileges. |

We love the fridge magnets - makes me smile each day and kids love them.
Our most recent trip was to Copenhagen and we visited Kronborg Castle (aka Hamlet’s castle). Kid bought a Hamlet manga that he thinks is so cool. |
