NP. State schools are notoriously over enrolled. Particularly it is hard to find spots in popular courses/with popular professors. Problem with UCs are well documented. (https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2021-11-08/editorial-uc-is-at-the-tipping-point-with-overcrowding)
UMD and other state flagships are not far behind.
