And how long would that 30 min drive take during the summer?? And finding parking. A plan to live “30 min from Westhampton” only makes sense if you plan to live there year round because during the high season you would rarely want to deal with the traffic and parking to go to the beach. |
This is 5 miles and a 12 minute drive from Westhampton Beach. With a pool no less. Pay a couple hundred for a parking pass for beaches in Southampton and you’ll be fine. And unlike any beach in Delaware and MD you can take day trips by commuter rail to NYC. https://www.redfin.com/NY/Remsenburg/3-S-Crestview-Dr-11960/home/22571092 |
For a $1.2M budget buy a place in the town of Westhampton Beach and bike or walk to the town beach. No traffic worries at all. https://www.redfin.com/NY/Westhampton-Beach/32-Library-Ave-11978/unit-3/home/21321963 |
| OP, whatever you do spend some time there before you buy and make sure you really love the area. The market in our town in OBX is still very hot for nice houses. Given the uncertainty around the real estate market, economy, etc., I would personally want to be prepared to hold for 8-10 years before buying anything. I think there is a good chance values will go down from the beach house frenzy of the past few years. You don't want to be stuck with a lemon you bought because you didn't know the area well enough. |
