I am the OP and it's not too obvious for me - I guess I don't associate last names with actor's famous parents? I used to get Entertainment Weekly, and for a time, Us Weekly, and I think I was much more up on who was who back then. I think I only found out about Ellis-Ross around the time Blackish was getting awards. |

I think there are also two levels of nepo babies. The first is just having connections in the industry that give you a leg up on how it works, who to talk to, how to break into the industry. It’s sort of the equivalent of being full pay and having your parents hire great college consultants. You still need great stats to get into good schools, but you know how to navigate what can seem like a black box to those on the outside. I wouldn’t say those got in on nepotism, but that they have opportunities/insight that aren’t available to most that give them an enormous advantage. The second is getting an audition or even a role based on your parents. For that, I think your parents need to either be a very big deal or close with someone influential on a particular project. |
